RFID blocking, explained without the scare tactics
What contactless skimming actually is, how likely it is, and why we build the shielding in anyway.
Every wallet we make has RFID shielding built into the body. Here's an honest account of what that does.
What RFID skimming is
Contactless cards answer a radio query from a few centimeters away. A reader held close enough to your pocket can, in principle, wake a card and read what it broadcasts.
How worried should you be
Less than the internet suggests. Modern cards use one-time cryptograms, so a captured tap is not a reusable card number. Real-world losses from pocket skimming are rare compared with ordinary online card theft.
So why include it
Because it costs you nothing and removes a category of problem entirely — including the more common annoyance of two cards in one wallet confusing a reader at the register, or a hotel key waking up next to a transit card.
How ours works
A thin shielding layer sits inside the wallet body between the card pockets. There's no battery, nothing to charge, and no change to the thickness you feel in your pocket. It simply stops the cards from answering until you take one out.
